Cocksfoot for light land (2 Kg) £12.70/Acre
More InfoThis well-known perennial grows early in the spring and has a comprehensive root structure travelling to depth and therefore thrives on light, free-draining soil. It is equally at home on soils prone to flooding. Cocksfoot harbours insects and is a good choice for this reason. Due to its dominance in the sward, it is best to restrict its usage in mixes. It is palatable when grazed frequently.
White Clover (1 Kg) £17.50/Acre
More InfoN Fixer. A low-growing clover for undersowing, N fixation and weed suppression. Very common in forage mixtures with grasses and commonly mixed with yellow trefoil for soil improvement. Sow between March and September.
Red Clover - Boost protein (1 Kg) £12.30/Acre
More InfoN Fixer. The best clover for N fixation, soil structure and weed suppression. Sow March to September. Lasts for at least two years and will make silage.Red clover can be used as part of your greening measures, as a 'pasture legume' or a 'nitrogen fixing crop' option.
Westerwolds 1yr Cover Crop (3 Kg) £9.21/Acre
More InfoThis annual form of ryegrass is very fast to establish. It is the only grass to produce a stem and seed head from a spring sowing making it good for the production of hay for horses. A very good N Lifter, it is very quick to make a large root mass making it suitable as a green manure. It is a cheaper alternative to cereal rye making it very popular. Used on its own or as a companion to N-fixing vetch.
Forage rape (0.25 Kg) £1.19/Acre
More InfoForage rape is a quick growing, protein-rich green forage, with similar yields to stubble turnips. It is sown from April to August to provide forage 12 weeks later. In most years it can be relied upon to produce forage until Christmas. It makes an excellent feed for lambs and tolerates poor soils so can be used as a pioneer crop in upland situations.
Timothy for heavy ground (2 Kg) £13.50/Acre
More InfoOne of the most important and flexible species which is used both environmentally and agriculturally. It will grow abundantly on heavy ground and, although it only has a shallow root structure, it still persists well on lighter land in dry years. Timothy is a very persistent and hardy grass, free of disease. It is palatable to most classes of stock.
Vetches for bulk (10 Kg) £32.50/Acre
More InfoN Fixer. This is a winter-hardy annual which can be grown on its own to fix large amounts of N, or with westerwolds or rye for the protection of soils over the winter. It is the best legume for over wintering and can be left until May when it produces around 200kgN/ha. Best sown during September and by mid October. Vetch makes good silage and is often mixed with oats. Limited stock, please call for availability
